Here is a good example of an electric fence installation using our Electro-Fence™ technology. The key points of the project and the criteria that our electric fence installer had to consider were:
- Location: Secure vehicle compound in Scotland
- Installer: An approved member of our international network of electric fence installers who was trained by Advanced Perimeter Systems Limited.
- Client’s Requirement: To keep intruders out of the compound with an effective alarm system.
- Site Characteristics: Existing metal palisade fencing (2.4m high) with access gates on the compound perimeter.
- Height of the electric fence on completion of installation: 3m
Key Steps Of The Electric Fence Installation

A section of the existing palisade fence prior to the electric fence installation.
A lot of vegetation had grown through the fence over time and this had to be cut back before the installation work could begin.
Metal palisade fence with the vegetation removed.
Electro-Fence™ intermediate insulators were first fixed to intermediate posts.
Then the posts were attached to the fence. It is easier to fit the electric fence insulators in this way.
The installer begins to fix the first of the electric wires.
Installation of wires is done from the top down.
With the first electric wire installed, the installer begins on the second set.
Picture shows two electric wires installed.
Installer begins on the third set.

All fence end, corner or any other strain posts have to be extended to the height of the electric fence posts in order to take the force of the wires.
They are also fitted with a fence anti-climb feature to stop intruders climbing over. The anti-climb wires will also generate an alarm if interfered with.
The fence should be kept clear of any vegetation at all times. Gravel is an ideal medium for keeping vegetation at bay.

How an electric fence installation helps many sites
If you have an existing perimeter fence you Electro-Fence™ can be added to improve its security and this includes any existing gates set within the perimeter. Alternatively Electro-Fence™ can be installed as a stand-alone fence system which is sometimes required by sites such as military bases and water authorities for reservoir protection.
Electro-Fence™ has been installed at many high security sites around the world including power stations, government buildings, correctional facilities, police compounds and even wildlife parks and zoos where it serves a dual purpose of protecting the public as well as safeguarding the animals from attempted theft and vandalism.
We have an international network of approved electric fence installers and we welcome enquiries from around the world. So wherever you are, please feel free to contact us for a no-obligation discussion about your requirements.
