The Electro-Fence™ system was designed and manufactured by Advanced Perimeter Systems Limited and has established itself as the electric fence system of choice for many high security sites around the world. These include military bases, prisons, correctional facilities, government buildings and police compounds. This non-lethal electric security fence carries British Government approvals and is BS EN ISO standards compliant.
Key Features Of This Electric Fence System
The purpose of installing anti-climb on the electric fence is to protect it against a climb-over attack. The diagram shows a typical installation position and two types of electric fence insulator.
With any perimeter fence you need to detect any initial attempt to gain entrance. On our electric fence system, we supply a detector that can generate an alarm if the electric fence wires are moved apart.
Made of galvanized steel, our anti-spread detector was designed in-house and is produced in our manufacturing facility. If any wire on the electric fence is moved, it will short out and the required alarm will be generated.
The anti-spread detector is a feature of the Electro-Fence™ system which to date has been of particular value to high security sites. The photo above is of an electric fence installation at a military base (coastal location). The installation was carried out by a member of the Advanced Perimeter Systems’ network of trained electric fence installers.
Change Of Fence Direction
Sometimes the size and geography of a site means that the perimeter fence has to take in curves and changes of direction. Direction change sections are used where the fence wire changes direction by more than 20 degrees vertically or 90 degrees horizontally.
Our Electro-Fence™ system copes with that easily and has been installed on many sites of an unusual dimension/shape. A good example is the photograph above which was taken on site during the installation of an electric fence system to protect the perimeter of a police compound.
All electric fence systems require protection against lightening strikes. In the event of a strike, the Electro-Fence™ Lightening Arrestor diverts any lightening to ground. It is mounted on the fence post at the start of the zone and suitably connected via cable to an earth stake. The output from the Electro-Fence™ controller is connected through the Lightening Arrestor to the fence.
How to assess other features you may need for your electric fence system
There are other important features to consider when installing an electric fence system. Not all suppliers will explain this but as manufacturers of perimeter security for over 30 years we know what it takes to make a truly effective and reliable electric fence system. So from energisers to controllers and insulators as well as how your perimeter fence gates can accommodate electric fencing or whether a free standing electric fence might be an option for your site, there is lots more for you to know and understand.
You will find detailed information and photographs in the following pages – a must read if you want to know all the options to consider:
