Perimeter Security For Wildlife Parks And Zoos
Perimeter security for wildlife parks and zoos is important for the protection of both the animals and their visitors. Our Flexiguard™, Electro-Fence™ and Multisys™ systems have all been used in these applications.
Zoo Perimeter Security Systems
Security For Elephants
In the Spring of 2018 a special new elephant enclosure at Blackpool Zoo was unveiled called Project Elephant Base Camp.
Construction began in 2017 and we are asked to provide key elements of the perimeter security system. This involved the installation of our Electro-Fence™ and Multisys™ technology. You can read more about the installation in a dedicated news item: Perimeter Security For Project Elephant Base Camp.
Security For Rare Birds
Our Flexiguard™ intrusion detection system was installed at Edinburgh Zoo around the perimeter of the parrot cage to provide them with protection against theft. These particular parrots are rare and valuable and thieves were previously cutting the cage and stealing the parrots. The solution we provided also had to have a little ‘extra’ built in to stop the parrots themselves from sabotaging the cabling! So we installed our detection sensor cable within a stainless steel flexible conduit – something we knew the parrots would not be able to chew through!
Wildlife Park Security
We also protect a Wildlife Park in the North East of England with Flexiguard™. Again, the value of the animals and birds within the park was the problem that attracted thieves but there were also occasions when people would break through the perimeter just to let the animals loose in order to create havoc. So an effective security system was required to detect any attempt at forced or illegal entry into the park. Our Flexiguard™ detection system was installed on the park’s perimeter fence and proved to be the ideal solution.
