Security Case Study – Perimeter Protection For The Victoria Line for 2012 London Olympics

There are many underground transport systems in the world - referred to sometimes as mass transit, metro or tube systems - and most major cities have one such transport system.

London's Underground system of course is world famous and due to previous terrorist attacks has undergone a major upgrade in recent years, with security issues the prime concern. It became especially important to improve all round security when it was announced that London was to host the 2012 Olympics.

In 2007 Advanced Perimeter Systems Ltd was asked to supply a security solution for part of the London Underground system - the control centre of the London Victoria Line. This is the location from which all trains on that line are controlled. The control centre, itself a bomb-proof structure, needed some form of perimeter protection to prevent against possible attack.

Our Flexiguard™ system was the ideal solution. Installed around the perimeter of the control centre, it provides round the clock detection of any violations and is tied in with CCTV monitoring.
