Solar Parks - Perimeter Security
With the earth's natural resources of coal, gas and oil under threat of running out and an increasing demand for more clean sources of energy, many countries are turning their minds to the harnessing of solar energy.
Collecting solar energy can be done in different ways and for different applications.
For example, there are low temperature collectors (flat plates often used for the heating of swimming pools), medium temperature collectors (similar but generally used for the production of hot water for both residential and commercial use) and high
temperature solar energy collectors.
The latter work in a different way as they concentrate sunlight by means of mirrors and are used mainly for the production of electric power.
In addition, there is photovoltaics (PV), currently the world's fastest growing technology, which uses solar cells to produce energy by converting sunlight directly into electricity.
The solar cells are packaged in photovoltaic modules which are usually connected in multiples called solar photovoltaic arrays. The arrays can be on a small or large scale, the larger ones being referred to as solar parks. Photovolaic installations can now be seen in many countries, the most progressive ones being in the USA, Japan, Australia, Germany and Israel.
Other countries are working hard to follow suit with those enjoying a lot of sunshine, such as Greece, Spain and Portugal, placing ever increasing importance on developing photovoltaic production of electricity.
Solar parks are becoming increasingly relied upon to provide electricity around the world and accordingly there is a demand to protect them with effective security. The threats they face are the same as for any other energy producing facility - vandalism, sabotage and terrorism.
The installation of quality intruder deterrent and detection systems is therefore paramount. Our Electro-Fence™ system is ideal as an intruder deterrent and our Flexiguard™ system the perfect match for intruder detection.
